Some FAQ On Double Cleansing
Why Cleansing is Important?
Cleansing is not only the first step of skincare but the base. It develops the canvas (your skin) for the efficiency of everything you are gonna apply in the next steps. Not to mention it removes dirt and excess oil. Not only that, it helps to boost moisture and slow the aging process indirectly.
Why Double Cleansing is Important?
Oils mixed with oils and water mixed with water. Some particles in our environment are water-soluble, whereas some are oil soluble. When our skin is exposed to the environment which is always, it gets into contact with all kinds of dirt and pollution. So to get rid of that pollution just an oil or water-based cleanser is not enough. We need both.
How to do Double Cleanse?
1. Take any oil (If you’re sensitive to Coconut Oil, there are a lot of other good oils like Jojoba, Argan) or Cleansing balm, milk, cream and rub gently for a minimum of 5 minutes. Give a gentle massage to your skin in this step. With pure oil, you can keep it for 30 minutes if you want.
2. Sweep it with a microfiber, Cotton cloth, or Towel. Remember to stay gentle.
3. Then apply water onto the skin.
4. Use facewash/water-based cleanser/gel directly or if you’ve sensitive skin, first rub it in between your palms then apply foams to clear your face or body.
How to Cleanse Dry Skin?
Coconut, Olive, and Avocado oil are good for providing moisture. For dry skin, it’s better to use a cleansing balm that contains emulsifiers instead of face wash afterward. Cleansing milk is also good for your skin. If you feel like you need something to get rid of oils, then use a mild cleanser after oil cleansing.
How to Cleanse Oily Skin?
Use cleansing milk or just wipe your face with a soft fabric. Argan and Marula is a good option for oily skin if you want. Then wash your face with a charcoal or Bentonite clay cleanser. Bentonite is better than Charcoal when it comes to absorbing extra oils from the skin pore.
How to Cleanse Sensitive Skin?
For Oil-cleansing use Jojoba or Rosehip oil. Then Use French Green Clay cleanser for Oily-Sensitive skin and Kaolin Clay cleanser for Normal-Dry Sensitive skin. Check the ingredients that it does not contain any harmful element or perfume in it.
How to Cleanse Acne-Prone Skin?
Jojoba Oil is good for Sensitive skin if you wanna oil cleanse first. Then you may use a Rose Clay cleanser. It soothes the skin and improves blood circulation. Bentonite is the best for getting rid of extra oils and grimes. It has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which may help with acne. Tee Tree oil is also a good ingredient to look forward to.
How Many Times Do I Need to Cleanse My Face?
Even though the answer is two times, it varies. If you go to the gym then after coming home you need to wash your face before going to the office. If you come back from the office in the afternoon and go to a dinner party you need to wash your face again after coming back home. For me right now, I wake up in the morning do a little work then work out then take a bath. And that’s the only time I clear my face. Because the rest of the I stay at home, Our windows are wooden, so no direct sunlight, no Sunscreen. Before going to bed, I feel no need for washing my face, because there’s no reason.
In my opinion, try to keep it within two. Because the more you wash your face, the more it gets dry and will produce oil. Natural reaction. Either your skin will become dry or oily.
How to Cleanse Face at Night?
Some say, to cleanse your face with warm water before going to bed because it opens the pores. First of all, it’s a wrong conception that warm water opens your pores. Pores show no response regarding temperature. It can’t actually. Pores are small holes in your skin. Though, warm water helps to melt the outer layer of dirt, makeup, and gunk. So before going to the bed, weekly, you may use lukewarm water or vapor for better cleansing. Then massage your skin. After doing this for five minutes you can continue your regular cleansing steps. This will deep cleanse your face. If you feel too much heat don’t do it, just wash and gently massage your face with lukewarm water.
Is it Necessary to Cleanse Face In The Morning?
NO. For many ladies, I have seen cleansing is the first thing they do in the morning, even before brushing their teeth. If you’re taking bath then and then only cleanse your skin in the morning. Otherwise, there’s no requirement for it. Because if you’re not taking bath, you’re not going out for business or a special event. You may have used facial oil last night, so washing is necessary, but that can wait until you take bath.
If you stay in harsh cold weather, probably you don’t take bath daily. In that case, wash your face once a day with a mild cleanser like cleansing milk, when it’s required the most, and apply moisturizer often.
How to Cleanse to get a Clear Skin?
This is not a single-line answer if you are talking about glass skin by saying clear. But if you meant you want clear skin from dirt, pollution, grimes, sebums then here is your answer.
1st step is steam cleaning, massage gently for 5 to 10 minutes. 2nd step is Oil cleanses for a minimum of 5 minutes. Gently massage your skin and then sweep it off from your face with a soft fabric. At this stage, your skin becomes already clear. In the 3rd step cleanse your skin with a cleanser or face wash. At the 4th step, you may wanna exfoliate. Remember exfoliation is a natural process of the skin, we do it because we want to stimulate the process. So please do very gently. And at the 5th and the last step, we will complete our cleaning process by using a dexifying clay mask. This is the maximum thing you can do for cleaning your skin at home.
How to Cleanse Your Face Naturally, Without a Cleanser?
You can cleanse your face naturally without applying any cleanser with warm water or steam. Steam your face for 10 minutes while gently massaging. Steam helps to melt solid particles a little bit. Then wipe your face with a fine fabric to clear your face.
What are the Home Remedies for Cleansing Face and/or Body?
I don’t like home remedies. Still, there are some natural ingredients you can use after steaming your face. For Oil-cleansing use Coconut Oil, Jojoba, Castor, Almond, Avocado, Rosehip, Argan, and Neem oil. For water-cleansing use Milk, Oatmeal, Honey, and Milk. You may add 2 drops of lemon. Lemon’s PH is very low and not good for the skin. But using it with another ingredient will boost the cleansing depth.
For exfoliating, some natural ingredients are Sugar, Curd, and Watermelon. Here you can use Apple Cider Vinegar or Lemon as usual 2-3 drops to boost the process.
What are the Best Cleansing Oils?
Coconut Oil is the best if your skin does not have any issues with it because it’s the cheapest and easy to wipe off. Does not feel like wasting to be true. You can mix it with little Castor or Neem oil or both. Excellent cheap oils. Jojoba oil is another best choice for cleansing the face and as base oil.
Besides those, Sweet Almond, Avocado, Olive, Argan, Sea Buckthorn, Rosehip, Black seed, Grapeseed, and Sunflower oils are great for the skin. Use in about (not necessarily exact) 1:3 ratio for essential and base or carrier oil.
What is the Difference Type of Cleansers?
There are many types of cleansers. Gel, Milk, Cream, Balm, Oil, Clay, Bars, and Foam cleansers are very popular. There is Micellar water which I dislike.
What is the Difference Between Cleanser and Facewash?
Facewash is strong while Cleansers are mild. The cleanser does not foam well while washing, but facewash foam well because they are just liquid soap. Cleansers do not take the whole moisture from the skin, they are more gentle, and now we don’t use facewash anymore. We cleanse. But if you have oily skin you may use a facewash but remember oily skin is a result of dry skin.
What are the Common Cleansing Mistakes?
The major problem I have seen in India is over or under-cleansing. For example, my mon, I recently helped her develop cleansing her face while taking bath. So she just does that. That is okay when you’re staying at home. But if you spend a whole day outside, you need to cleanse again before coming home!
And then some, teens, and twenties do over-cleansing. They clean their face multiple times thinking that their face will glow or become fairer. Sadly, the young generation developed that type of idea. Dear, it’s bad if you cleanse your face more than three times. It’s even worse if your skin is sensitive or has a special condition, you need minimal skincare and a maximum of two times wash. So, my advice is to please keep it within two times.
Don’t use harsh Cleansers. It’s an old-school, bad conception that the more drying cleanser the better. It’s not. Our skin has natural good oils which we need. I always use mild cleansers. These are the best cleanser I have used in my whole life. To be true even if everybody’s skin is different, you can blindly trust this. If not see the reviews on YouTube!
Where Double Cleansing Originated?
In Korea, Double cleansing was first started. Japan is probably another country with Korea. Because Japanese geishas used cleansing oils followed by a water-based foam cleanser to remove makeup and cleanse properly. But it was not popular then. LEter it became popular with 10 steps of the Korean skincare method.
Will Oil Cleansing Cause Breakouts by Any Chance?
See it depends, I still used coconut oil to remove makeup and sunscreen. But as far as I am concerned Coconut oil is not loved by everybody because it causes breakout for some skin. But no Oil cleansing does not cause any breakouts if that is your question. It depends on the ingredient particular product is carrying.
