Every people even who are not into skincare is aware of washing faces. Many people especially old age males use just water. For young adults washing their face with a “Facewash” is common to them. But what is face wash? The face wash mainly points to the old technology which creates a lot of foam contacting with water. A myth is “The more foam the better wash”. The more drying the facewash is, many feel it is cleaning the face better. You know the feeling of removing every drop of oil from your face!
But with that, Now in the 21st century, we know the importance of natural oils in the skin. We need them for a healthy glowy looking face. New facewashes are mainly called cleansers. Because they cleanse the skin softly, do not take necessary or extra oils from our skin. For extra oils, we have clay masks, right? Why use a face wash daily which will make the skin dry!
So now we know that we need the required oils to stay on our skin. But for dirt, we need to remove them properly. Oil and water do not get mixed, right? Now modern cleansers contain emulsifier which normally removes everything. But if a person has sunscreen or heavy makeup on their face it is very much advisable that first remove the makeup and sunscreen with an oil cleanser like a balm. To do oil cleansing properly see this. Then follow it with a water-based cleanser. This is called Doble cleansing Method.
Keep in Mind While Choosing a Cleanser or Cleansing Balm
- Does not matter if your skin is oily or normal always choose a mild cleanser that does not dry out the skin. Oily skin can be of two types. Dry inside or not.
- Even though it is mild a proper cleanser should contain an emulsifier and be able to remove makeup. We do double cleansing for better results but a cleanser should do 80% of it.
- A cleansing balm does not mean only oils, just like a cleanser a cleansing balm should also contain an emulsifier that will melt every residue.
- Even though cleansers should be mild, the face must not feel unclear or a little greasy after washing. If you are feeling tight and dry within 10-15 minutes of washing your face, it’s not a good face wash.
- A cleanser should not contain a lot of fragrance. Make sure it does not have any type of toxic, harsh chemicals, essential oils, etc. Essential oil and fragrance are not particularly bad but can be very harmful to sensitive skin.
- In modern days cleansers are PH balanced, still, check if it’s near the natural PH of human skin or not.
